Progress Report #98: January 2024

It's time again to bring you up to lightspeed with the latest update from the development team. Let's dive in.

Our artist has been hard at work transforming the ambience of Tripteen's dungeons, including brand-new dungeon maps, background textures, and addition of non-interactive objects. With a keen attention to detail and environmental storytelling, we are aiming to create vibrant zones rich in lore that would suit a facility inhabited by beings of mysterious origins.

And of course, no dungeon adventure is complete without a bestiary of captivating foes. To that effect, that we've added a line up of new battler sprites. We'll be unveiling some of them in a special roadmap article dropping in the next few days so be sure to keep an eye out!

Our writer on the other hand, has been working to expand the dialogue options of the Villagers, allowing them to react to Caly's journey. For instance, once Caly has gained the trust of the villagers by completing various tasks, some of the villagers may spill valuable information, offer to trade, or provide services. Key choices in dialogue are going to have consequences throughout the rest of the story as development continues.

Lastly, our coding wizards report new additional UI elements! Presenting:

  • HP Bars & Enemy Information Windows:

You can now track of your enemies' health via HP Bars on the side and at the bottom information panel, gauging the effectiveness of your attacks and strategically planning your next move. Over the course of development, we plan to expand the UI to accurately reflect the information that is being displayed in real-time, such as status effects.
