I really like this game, but god it does get confusing what you are actually supposed to do at times, having like a quest log accesible (it might be and I just couldnt find it) would be really handy, the first planet especially is quite confusing despite basically being a tutorial

Yes the steam demo will be updated, we just need to clean up quite a bit and are currently busy with the next update. So the steam demo is currently a bit behind.
We have a quest log in the game, but we are still in the testing phase so not all quests are in that system yet, we are adding more quests as we release new versions.
We agree that the first planet is a bit too complicated as the first area and tutorial, reason why we are fully remaking the first planet for the upcoming update. The old legacy content (Enemies and Scenes can be found in the gallery later on) and the new enemies and scenes will be in the new tripteen dungeon.
We wish we could, last time we ask itch, they said it isn't possible due to the size of the game. We don't think they have increased the limit, but we will double check with them. No promises though.
Hello, Yes, we will add the request key feature later on the new version on itch that will match the version number from steam. If that feature doesn't work then we will send out an e-mail or ask for people that bought the game and want the version on steam to send us an e-mail. Hello I wanted to say that I downloaded your demo from Steam and i wanted to warn you that the file nw.ddl is being flaged as Maleware by Avast and AVG but not by other Antiviruses. Now I am certain that it is not Malware but that it is a false flag by both since VirusTotal only detects it by those two Antiviruses and Steam and Itch.io also did not detect anything since the game is on both platforms.
I just wanted to warn you that you will properly get accusations that your game is Malware by people that do not unterstand tht false flags are a thing when you officially relase the game that has happend to a lot of other games that are on Steam and have been falsy flaged. I officially send a report to my Antivirus (Avast) that it is a false flag so it should hopefully get rid of the false flag.
Thank you for the report. We have been dealing with that one for a while, it flags the runtime dll and not the game.exe itself. We have sent reports to windows but they are not changing their mind, we will have to keep updating the NWJS version it runs on, to stay ahead of the curve it seems, thanks again.
(When we uploaded the game to steam, that file was not a problem, where previous versions of NWJS did cause that problem.)
hey found a bug , (love the game btw ) in the spacesport during the slime events , when you take speaker to replace the boss you go through the dialog only to appear in a frozen map scene , i can walk around and see the frozen sprites of the other two slimes , but nothing is solid and its just a frozen void , it occurs when you take the following dialog options , (dont modify the slime , explain things to kendra the cop lady , praise samura's wisdom , ask her what is wrong when she backstabs you , and praise the bravery of speaker for volunteering to take gen's place ) idk if this bug occurs in any other dialog but thats what i got , hope it helps

Cool. Thanks for this info. I might do that on payday. Right now the combat is being annoying. As to often the enemy will run way from me. Which I have to chase them down but they can snipe me across the map. Making me really hating the combat. Where both starting weapons are very short range. Very annoying have to ether spend my full turn chasing down an enemy or avoiding huge AEO. It would be nice if the second weapon was more long range. That way I have an options to do some long range combat like the enemies do. Like the only way I feel I can deal with enemies is let them grapple me. Let them get close to sexually assault me. Then use ether 100% escape or release tiny robot to stun the enemy. To start my counter attack. Yet when the enemies can move across the board and attack. I just feel pretty hopeless.
It like I feel I have 2 choses avoid combat and be broke/no supplies for the game or suffer through the frustrating combat. I am sure the combat gets better once I get a long range weapon but the slog to get there makes me feel it not worth doing combat.
There are more weapons than just the 1 secondary weapon that you have from the start. You can also buy and equip scopes to the weapon which will increase your range on your weapons.
We are working on making big changes to the combat system in the next update. As an example, movement will be its own resources.
So it will allow you to move and attack, and move again.

It seems a previous comment mentioned this. I wanted to add more detail regarding what I believe is the same bug.
The blaster actions "shoot" and "burst fire" cover the entire map. I realized this when fighting at the Urtu embassy. Opening the modification menu for the blaster says it has a +8 range. The CQC Scope is equiped, which is only meant to add +1 range. When unequipped, the range goes down from +8 to +7. The SP-42 with the Holo Display Scope equipped has +9 range, and +8 without the scope.
I reloaded some previous saves and i seems that the range keeps increasing after equipping the +1 scopes. Before I equipped them, there was no range bonus for either weapon. The first save I have after the CQC scope was equipped gives the blaster a +2. The next save, +3. The next one, +4. The next save has a +6. And all the way to +8. Somehow, and I have no idea how, the range keeps increasing incrementally after having equipped the +1 scopes.
I hope this helps with debugging. In the mean time, I'll role-play using the proper range.
Edit: I forgot to mention. Despite the SP-42 technically having a +9 range, in combat there seems to be no bonus. Only the blaster is affected.
Hmm, that seems like the same issue, is this on a brand new save created with this build or did you use a previous save? Just trying to eliminate as many variables as possible.
On a seperate note from my nit-picking below, this reminds me of another game (third crisis). That game is great and the only major drawback to it is the obscene loading time(s) because the game is huge. So this game has +1 on that one in that regard. no huge loading issues/wait times.
A several things came up while playing the 0.5.5a windows copy that may need to be looked into.
1: When extracted, the file doesn't end in "a" it just says 0.55.5. I assume this to be a type-o.
2: Quest tracking doesn't work properly. After playing through the tutorial, the tracker stops populating and updating so I have had to memorize/physically write down quests.
3: Struggling without the use of ammo. I have not once broken out of a bind (prior to an enemy doing something) without using ammo and I have 20+ hours on this version of the game.
4: AP usage. Most guns show "20" as AP usage but the bar looses about 40-50 depending on the weapon(per use).
4B: Ammo. There were a couple times I swapped between shotgun and sniper (in the edit/equip menu) only to loose all my ammo (the gauge zeroed out) as if I spent it all in combat.
5: Weapon range. I added a equip to the pistol that gave +1 range and it now covers nearly the whole map. I believe this was not the intended effect.
6: Weapon firing direction. Most weapons can only fire forward based on starting facing direction with the exception of the pistol. IE: a enemy was beside me and I couldn't use the shotgun or sniper because they were not in front of me but the pistol worked fine.
7: Player guidance. there were a couple times I was lost: looking for "water" for the parched resident in front of the baggage claim/security building. I likely tried the fountins near the rude guy a dozen times before giving up. looking for the "flower" to become a bounty hunter (I saw the plant outside the "cheep hotel" in the slums and thought that was it). I had an issue looking for the ancient tablet in the lab. When it said "south" I backed out of the map to the overworld section(where you can go back to the city, into the dudgeon, or the 3rd section) to see if a southern section was added. Same goes for the small gem on the table after picking up the sniper. I only found it after reading through the comments/fourm here. some quips from the MC might help in some of these cases. "I get the feeling its in this area somewhere", "that's a nice plant but not a flower", ect.
8: Jobs. The only job currently is the waitress at the bar on the space station. I would have liked the opportunity to be a bunny girl for the casino or some other option(s) prior to becoming a bounty hunter.
9: Stats not updating(?). I have "sampled" all that the o-district has on offer and my sex stats haven't changed, is this how it was designed? Simply to show what the MC is most comfortable with and not what has happened since being abducted (is that section not a tally for all the times the MC had a sexual encounter and what type)?

1. Thank you for the heads up, we will adjust it so it doesn't happen again.
2. Quest Tracking works as intended - 0.5.5 only features the intro start quest. We have just implemented the quest log in this version so we can use this build for gathering data before we move on and implement the rest of the quests.
3. Struggling without ammo is very RNG based. We hope to improve on that system in later versions, thanks for the feedback.
4. That shouldn't happen, we will look into that issue! Same with 4B.
5. That is correct, thank you for the report!
6. That is currently a reoccurring issue that we are aware of. We have been working on a fix, but sadly most of our attempts have not fixed the bug.
7. Yeah, we agree with these points and are going to focus on adjusting it in the next few updates. Part of the "fixing" is hopefully going to be visible in our new approach and redesign of the first dungeon. We also hope that it will be clearer once we added the quests into the quest log system as well.

9. That system is very work in progress - it currently includes the Tripteen dungeon and not much outside of that. We haven't really invested more time into that system as we are not sure if that is the final version of it or if we want to fully change it up.

You will need to head back to the starting are of the dungeon, there should be a giant door to the south that you can unlock after getting the pad/key.

Hello! You can find the water at a vending machine on the outside of the spaceport as an example. The doujin you can find inside the cosplay store of the Elite District all the way to the right.
You maybe able to, but officially, we are not supporting joiiplay at the moment. Game was fun to play. Walkthrough wasn't to helpful but it might be good if you're drunk.
I got stuck on the second boss fight due to being 1 shotted 3 turns in every time.
I decided to put the game down, go eat supper & come back after eating. And I did come back. Only to discover that when you close the game, none of your saves stay.
Due to the save problem I won't be playing the game. But if someone has the time to play it all in one go. Based on what I did play, it should be a good time.
That is a very odd issue, we never heard that the saves are gone after you close the game. Do you have admin power on your PC? Because if not, that might cause the issue that the game isn't allow to write the saves on your PC.
I didn't have the option to "unpack" the archive. Only go into it and double click the "game.exe" file. However, unlike most games on the site, it doesn't unpack the game and create an unzipped folder for the game. It just opens up the game directly. In my experience, about 10% of the games who have this method of opening the game won't save the saves when closing the game.
Okay, I know what the problem is, you need to have either win rar or seven zip installed on your PC. Then when the download is finished, right click on the .zip/.rar file and use "Extract Files Here". That will correctly unpack the game and install it correctly, which will also fix the saving issue.
Hey, can you make a screenshot of which door you are referring to? If you mean the big double door in the hub area with the hot spring, did you get the stone tablet/key inside the room to the right of the hub?
It should be floating inside a tube on the far right of the room.

Hello! You seem to have run into an extraction issue. The unzipping of the file didn't go smoothly and that ended in file -----------.js going missing. We suggest basic troubleshooting first and beginning by deleting your current game directory and then unzipping the game file afresh. Make sure you use 7zip software to minimize chances of extraction issues.
I downloaded the google drive link and it was immediately flagged as a trojan by my system and put it in quarantine. Could it be a false positive or an error with the link?
May we ask what version of the game have you downloaded? There was an issue of false positive going around where only Windows Defender was flagging the Game.exe as Doplik Trojan. We went into this in great detail about it a fortnight back and even though it was not a prevalent issue, we went ahead anyway and floated a new build that no longer triggered that anti-virus.
If your experience is something similar even with the latest download link or your have a different anti-virus, do let us know with as many details as you can share and we'll look into it!
Hi. The previous 2 times I downloaded this game, the screen turned black and the game permanently stopped working as soon as I exited the first area of Henosis. Any idea why that might be happening? Is it fixed?
That's odd indeed. Could you share some more info about your PC specs and the OS? Just general SysInfo would do. Hit "Windows" key > Run > Dxdiag > Copy and paste the info under SystemInformation here.
And where exactly were you in-game story wise? To be specific in what zone of Henosis before you experienced the crash?
Thank you for the report. Unfortunately, we're aware of this issue and have been trying to troubleshoot the buggy nature of this phenomenon. But, the complex nature of our code is making it hard to quickly pin down the source of the issue. Rest assured, we're actively on the hunt to find and quash the bug as soon as possible!
Yes, we addressed that issue with a hot-fix two months ago where we made the timer "slow down severely", every-time the player went into battle. Instead of the constant ticking, the player now looses roughly between 2-5 seconds off the clock for every battle engaged.
The idea is to enforce upon the player the need to flee being greater than kicking every ass that Caly comes across, under the given worsening circumstances.
If however the timer is still ticking continuously while in battle, could you share what the version ID of your game is? And how long ago did you download the game? Though we have fused the fix in the latest build, fair chance you might not have the hot-fix if you are still on 0.5.3c, in which case we can share it with you here.
Hi. I just downloaded this from Media Fire and my AV said that Game.exe was infected with Trojan:Win32/Doplik. Not sure if this was a false positive or not, but I am not taking any chances and wanted to warn the author and others.

In recent days we have received similar reports from multiple sources. Fortunately, we're happy to report two things:
That this isn't a VoidBound specific issue, and in-fact a false positive detection by one specific AV only: Windows Defender and it's mainly targeting RPG Maker engine that the game runs on.
That we've seen this happen before and are actually tracking the issue on Github currently.
To put your mind at ease, you too can check the following threads whereby you can follow the current status yourself:
TL;DR: Every now and then Windows Defender flips out and flags nw.exe(renamed to Game.exe) as a threat. This has never been found to be legitimate. Neither by the community, nor by us.
Just to be on the safe side, we ran the file through an online AV scan database not five days ago, and it came back with the following results:

Hello and apologies for the late reply. It has been a busy few days.
What you're getting is a .7z file, which is a more advanced compressing technology, but lacks native support from Windows to open it.
We recommend googling and downloading either one of the following utilities to open the package you get:
1) Winrar
2) WinZip
3) 7-zip
Of all these, we recommend 7-zip as our tool of choice. It's completely free and can not only open .7z files, but shares compatibility with .rar and .zip as well which is handy to have as it will help you unzip all types of files in the future as well.
it might just be a skill or reading issue on my part but where or what in the slums do I go to find/complete the bounty hunter registration thing? I've spent the past 30 minutes going back and forth trying to interact with things there but I still have no clue on what I'm looking for xD

You need to exit the server room, head back west to where you came from, until you come across the elevator doors which should be active now after solving the server signal riddle. Ride it to the basement towards the last room before the final showdown with the boss!
The Urtu can be found in their Henosis Embassy. To reach it, head over to the residential area and look for the Dump Sign North West of that map. That is your direct access point. Alternatively, head over to the Love Machine building in the Red District and after finishing the trial click on the backdoor for straight access there.
I'm not sure if I'm just doing something wrong but neither of the links work for me. I just end up with a .7z file that I can't do anything with? I really wanna play this already! Sorry if I'm just being dumb but yeah, any help?
You need to use a software to extract the archive, either winrar or 7zip would work. Once installed, all you need to do is right click on the .7z file and say Extract to... That will create the game folder for you.
The game is compressed into a .7z file to reduce the amount of data you need to download. Don't forget to also download the hotfix to fix some of the bugs in there.

Wow, finally a public release! Will this ever come out on Steam? I need to let all my internet friends know how down bad I am.
Also... Last time I tried this(a long time ago), the combat was *really* difficult. I didn't use grenades and whatnot a lot but I remember that enemies were really powerful and just shredded me like cheese. Any adjustments made? I'd like to consider myself decent at the very least with strategy turn-based games but this was a difficult one. I know I would have had to grind a lot of money to get items to get me through that first mission area where you have to sneak around and then you have the boss fight with the 2 characters, so that's where I stopped playing.

Towards the combat, we overhauled the combat so far 4 times, but the biggest overhaul we did in the version 5.2.0.
Our goal was to make the combat faster and less difficult overall. We are still working on the combat, we plan to make another pass in the background while keep releasing content, and once the overhaul is ready we will merge the builds together.
The two bosses you are referring to where completely changed, pretty much all the A.I of the enemies have been completely overhauled.

Rest you can avoid, so technically you can play lesbian only apart of the first one.

The CQC Scope is equiped, which is only meant to add +1 range. When unequipped, the range goes down from +8 to +7. The SP-42 with the Holo Display Scope equipped has +9 range, and +8 without the scope.
I reloaded some previous saves and i seems that the range keeps increasing after equipping the +1 scopes. Before I equipped them, there was no range bonus for either weapon. The first save I have after the CQC scope was equipped gives the blaster a +2. The next save, +3. The next one, +4. The next save has a +6. And all the way to +8. Somehow, and I have no idea how, the range keeps increasing incrementally after having equipped the +1 scopes.
I hope this helps with debugging. In the mean time, I'll role-play using the proper range.
Edit: I forgot to mention. Despite the SP-42 technically having a +9 range, in combat there seems to be no bonus. Only the blaster is affected.
Hmm, that seems like the same issue, is this on a brand new save created with this build or did you use a previous save? Just trying to eliminate as many variables as possible.

On a seperate note from my nit-picking below, this reminds me of another game (third crisis). That game is great and the only major drawback to it is the obscene loading time(s) because the game is huge. So this game has +1 on that one in that regard. no huge loading issues/wait times.
A several things came up while playing the 0.5.5a windows copy that may need to be looked into.
1: When extracted, the file doesn't end in "a" it just says 0.55.5. I assume this to be a type-o.
2: Quest tracking doesn't work properly. After playing through the tutorial, the tracker stops populating and updating so I have had to memorize/physically write down quests.
3: Struggling without the use of ammo. I have not once broken out of a bind (prior to an enemy doing something) without using ammo and I have 20+ hours on this version of the game.
4: AP usage. Most guns show "20" as AP usage but the bar looses about 40-50 depending on the weapon(per use).
4B: Ammo. There were a couple times I swapped between shotgun and sniper (in the edit/equip menu) only to loose all my ammo (the gauge zeroed out) as if I spent it all in combat.
5: Weapon range. I added a equip to the pistol that gave +1 range and it now covers nearly the whole map. I believe this was not the intended effect.
6: Weapon firing direction. Most weapons can only fire forward based on starting facing direction with the exception of the pistol. IE: a enemy was beside me and I couldn't use the shotgun or sniper because they were not in front of me but the pistol worked fine.
7: Player guidance. there were a couple times I was lost: looking for "water" for the parched resident in front of the baggage claim/security building. I likely tried the fountins near the rude guy a dozen times before giving up. looking for the "flower" to become a bounty hunter (I saw the plant outside the "cheep hotel" in the slums and thought that was it). I had an issue looking for the ancient tablet in the lab. When it said "south" I backed out of the map to the overworld section(where you can go back to the city, into the dudgeon, or the 3rd section) to see if a southern section was added. Same goes for the small gem on the table after picking up the sniper. I only found it after reading through the comments/fourm here. some quips from the MC might help in some of these cases. "I get the feeling its in this area somewhere", "that's a nice plant but not a flower", ect.
8: Jobs. The only job currently is the waitress at the bar on the space station. I would have liked the opportunity to be a bunny girl for the casino or some other option(s) prior to becoming a bounty hunter.
9: Stats not updating(?). I have "sampled" all that the o-district has on offer and my sex stats haven't changed, is this how it was designed? Simply to show what the MC is most comfortable with and not what has happened since being abducted (is that section not a tally for all the times the MC had a sexual encounter and what type)?

1. Thank you for the heads up, we will adjust it so it doesn't happen again.
2. Quest Tracking works as intended - 0.5.5 only features the intro start quest. We have just implemented the quest log in this version so we can use this build for gathering data before we move on and implement the rest of the quests.
3. Struggling without ammo is very RNG based. We hope to improve on that system in later versions, thanks for the feedback.
4. That shouldn't happen, we will look into that issue! Same with 4B.
5. That is correct, thank you for the report!
6. That is currently a reoccurring issue that we are aware of. We have been working on a fix, but sadly most of our attempts have not fixed the bug.
7. Yeah, we agree with these points and are going to focus on adjusting it in the next few updates. Part of the "fixing" is hopefully going to be visible in our new approach and redesign of the first dungeon. We also hope that it will be clearer once we added the quests into the quest log system as well.

9. That system is very work in progress - it currently includes the Tripteen dungeon and not much outside of that.

I have figured out the best strat for the pando boss fight: stay next to it away of course but his stunning attack can only go in front of it from what iv seen so its just a matter of distance to be able to shoot it and heal from the unavoidable attack
you do have to move a bit, I'm actually still in the fight but its working so far
this only goes for the first phase as well just getting to second phase
I think for the second phase there is just more movement involved

The steam version has a few less bug fixes in the demo build, which will be updated soon'ish.
The Pre Order version is one version ahead of the public build in terms of features and content.
Upon release there won't be any difference between the stores.

You will need to head back to the starting are of the dungeon, there should be a giant door to the south that you can unlock after getting the pad/key.

Well, after trying every possible combo I could think of I checked the walkthrough and I can't get past this
So if the rows are A - D and the columns are 1-7 I want to try and light C1, right? But when I click C1 the spark goes to D4.
I've clicked all over and I can't make it make that pattern in the walkthrough.

You can't wear it outside the bar where you work in this outfit yet.
But you can wear that outfit on henosis in the cafe/bar during your work shift.
Game was fun to play. Walkthrough wasn't to helpful but it might be good if you're drunk.
I got stuck on the second boss fight due to being 1 shotted 3 turns in every time.
I decided to put the game down, go eat supper & come back after eating. And I did come back. Only to discover that when you close the game, none of your saves stay.
Due to the save problem I won't be playing the game. But if someone has the time to play it all in one go. Based on what I did play, it should be a good time.
That is a very odd issue, we never heard that the saves are gone after you close the game.
Do you have admin power on your PC? Because if not, that might cause the issue that the game isn't allow to write the saves on your PC.

It's not a rare problem. It happens to me for about 10% of game that require a program like WinRAR or 7zip to play.
If I may ask, how did you play the game?
Did you double click on the game.exe inside the archive or did you unpack the archive first?
I didn't have the option to "unpack" the archive. Only go into it and double click the "game.exe" file. However, unlike most games on the site, it doesn't unpack the game and create an unzipped folder for the game. It just opens up the game directly.
In my experience, about 10% of the games who have this method of opening the game won't save the saves when closing the game.
Okay, I know what the problem is, you need to have either win rar or seven zip installed on your PC.
Then when the download is finished, right click on the .zip/.rar file and use "Extract Files Here". That will correctly unpack the game and install it correctly, which will also fix the saving issue.
I can not find a way to open the doors in the mushroom dun. :/ I tried for an hour and I just don't understand what I am not seeing lol.

If you mean the big double door in the hub area with the hot spring, did you get the stone tablet/key inside the room to the right of the hub?

Hello! You seem to have run into an extraction issue. The unzipping of the file didn't go smoothly and that ended in file -----------.js going missing. We suggest basic troubleshooting first and beginning by deleting your current game directory and then unzipping the game file afresh. Make sure you use 7zip software to minimize chances of extraction issues.

May we ask what version of the game have you downloaded? There was an issue of false positive going around where only Windows Defender was flagging the Game.exe as Doplik Trojan. We went into this in great detail about it a fortnight back and even though it was not a prevalent issue, we went ahead anyway and floated a new build that no longer triggered that anti-virus.
If your experience is something similar even with the latest download link or your have a different anti-virus, do let us know with as many details as you can share and we'll look into it!

Yes, we addressed that issue with a hot-fix two months ago where we made the timer "slow down severely", every-time the player went into battle. Instead of the constant ticking, the player now looses roughly between 2-5 seconds off the clock for every battle engaged.
The idea is to enforce upon the player the need to flee being greater than kicking every ass that Caly comes across, under the given worsening circumstances.
If however the timer is still ticking continuously while in battle, could you share what the version ID of your game is? And how long ago did you download the game? Though we have fused the fix in the latest build, fair chance you might not have the hot-fix if you are still on 0.5.3c, in which case we can share it with you here.
Hi. I just downloaded this from Media Fire and my AV said that Game.exe was infected with Trojan:Win32/Doplik. Not sure if this was a false positive or not, but I am not taking any chances and wanted to warn the author and others.

TL;DR: Every now and then Windows Defender flips out and flags nw.exe(renamed to Game.exe) as a threat. This has never been found to be legitimate. Neither by the community, nor by us.
Just to be on the safe side, we ran the file through an online AV scan database not five days ago, and it came back with the following results:

Hello and apologies for the late reply. It has been a busy few days.
What you're getting is a .7z file, which is a more advanced compressing technology, but lacks native support from Windows to open it.
We recommend googling and downloading either one of the following utilities to open the package you get:
1) Winrar
2) WinZip
3) 7-zip
Of all these, we recommend 7-zip as our tool of choice. It's completely free and can not only open .7z files, but shares compatibility with .rar and .zip as well which is handy to have as it will help you unzip all types of files in the future as well.

You need to exit the server room, head back west to where you came from, until you come across the elevator doors which should be active now after solving the server signal riddle. Ride it to the basement towards the last room before the final showdown with the boss!

The Urtu can be found in their Henosis Embassy. To reach it, head over to the residential area and look for the Dump Sign North West of that map. That is your direct access point. Alternatively, head over to the Love Machine building in the Red District and after finishing the trial click on the backdoor for straight access there.

You need to use a software to extract the archive, either winrar or 7zip would work.
Once installed, all you need to do is right click on the .7z file and say Extract to...
That will create the game folder for you.
The game is compressed into a .7z file to reduce the amount of data you need to download.
Don't forget to also download the hotfix to fix some of the bugs in there.

Wow, finally a public release! Will this ever come out on Steam? I need to let all my internet friends know how down bad I am.
Also... Last time I tried this(a long time ago), the combat was *really* difficult. I didn't use grenades and whatnot a lot but I remember that enemies were really powerful and just shredded me like cheese. Any adjustments made? I'd like to consider myself decent at the very least with strategy turn-based games but this was a difficult one. I know I would have had to grind a lot of money to get items to get me through that first mission area where you have to sneak around and then you have the boss fight with the 2 characters, so that's where I stopped playing.

Towards the combat, we overhauled the combat so far 4 times, but the biggest overhaul we did in the version 5.2.0.
Our goal was to make the combat faster and less difficult overall. We are still working on the combat, we plan to make another pass in the background while keep releasing content, and once the overhaul is ready we will merge the builds together.
The two bosses you are referring to where completely changed, pretty much all the A.I of the enemies have been completely overhauled.
